Andrew and Chad went on a Scout trip last weekend.
They went to Georgetown Lake which is about 2 hours away and a little ways into the Rocky Mountains. The Lake is located in the valley where it is said to pick up a lot of wind.
They packed up the car with LOTS of sleepingbags, handwarmers, snowsuits, and gloves. They got there right after dark and made dinner and then went to bed. Andrew said he didn't feel his feet until about 2 in the morning. It had to have gotten below 0 though no one had a thermostat. The next day they went ice fishing. They tried all day and only 1 boy out of about 15 caught 1 fish.
This is the 2nd time Chad has gone camping in 2 months. He throughly enjoyed the Klondike the month before. The Troop even got the "Polar Bear" Award because they slept in below 0 weather.
All in all, they had fun, but next year, they decided they would leave early Sat. morning instead of Friday night.
I don't blame them.
BTW, the YW are planning thier own trip in a few weeks. Leanne is looking forward to it.
